Our Ministry
In 2003, Pastor Lily Garza Patino decided to begin holding services in El Cenizo, Texas, at the home of Pastor Rogelio Vasquez. At that time, he was not yet a pastor. There was a tremendous move of the Holy Spirit during the services. But as the church in El Cenizo, Texas, grew, so did Christian Family Center #2, and Pastor Lily Garza Patino had to leave the church in El Cenizo to focus on her expanding ministry. Pastor Rogelio Vasquez, not wanting to leave people hungry for Christ, asked them to give him a week to see what God had to say about the matter. He went to a church in the Valley, Texas, where Pastor Oralia Barker prophesied that he would be the pastor of the church. A few days later, Pastor Tony Gutierrez III contacted Rogelio to let him know he could help him for a while. Like Pastor Lily Garza Patino, his ministry also grew, and that's when the church leaders decided that Rogelio Vasquez would be the pastor in 2005. The church is still strong and we continue serving the community of El Cenizo, Texas.
Pastors
Pastors: Pastor Rogelio and Pastor Maria have been married for 34 years. In 2005, God called them to pastor in El Cenizo, Texas.
Pastor Rogelio Vasquez: At the young age of 8, Pastor Rogelio dedicated his life to God at the Church of God in San Benito, Texas. There, he met Brother Jorge Pecina, and together with his friends, they formed the group El Calvario, which is now known as Los Alegres de Harlingen, in 1972. He always sought to serve God. From a very young age, he worked in agriculture. It was there in Mesquite, New Mexico, that he met his wife in 1983. They dated for five years and married in April 1988. In 2005, God called them to the pastorate through Pastor Oralia Barker. He continues to serve his community.
Pastor Maria Soledad Vasquez: Born in Laredo, Texas. From a very young age, she worked in church. In 1983, in Mesquite, New Mexico, she met Pastor Rogelio Vasquez while they were both working there. They married in April of 1988. The first few years were difficult. We were unequally yoked. Our marriage was falling apart, and only God could save it. One day, the Paez family was in El Cenizo, Texas, and Rogelio wanted to attend a service. But that same day, there was a party to which they had been invited. To avoid an argument, they both went to the party. Then, while they were at the party, something inside her told her to leave the party and go to the service. It was there that God performed a miracle and worked in Maria's life. Since then, she hasn't looked back and has become a new creation. In 2005, God called her and her husband to the pastorate through Pastor Oralia Barker. Since then, she has been a great help to the pastor and the church.
